2011 was another great year for us, as we had 700 people register for either
race. Weather-wise, it was okay with cloud cover and temperatures in the upper
60s to low 70s. The humidity was a bit high, but there was also a pleasant
breeze that could be felt by the participants on the half marathon course,
mostly because there was more soybeans planted than corn:)
The results for 2011 have been posted on our Results
page. We will also be uploading the link to the many photos that were taken by I
Photo News, also found on the Results page. The female
record in the half marathon did fall this year, as we had three young women all
come in under the old record. Kara Storage is now the new holder of the record
with a time of 1:18:38.3 with her twin sister right behind her at 1:18:38.7. The
third place female, ex-Illini Elizabeth Boyle, came in at 1:18:44.5, giving us a
very exciting finish on the track. Our first place male in the half marathon,
Andrew Baker, just missed breaking the record with a 1:07:45.6.
